比较常用、被英语母语者能马上听懂的说法，有这些：

  • take the entrance exam for a master’s degree 参加硕士入学考试
  • prepare for the postgraduate entrance exam 准备研究生入学考试（偏中式，但解释清楚）

如果你在国际场合，不想解释太多，可以把“考研”拆开成两个层次：

  • 动作层：I’m preparing for the entrance exam for a master’s degree.
  • 目标层：I plan to do a master’s degree in XX.

这样说，不会出现“中国式英文梗”，也不会让对方一脸问号。

和谁说，差别很大：不同身份用不同表达更聪明

同样是“考研英语怎么说”，你跟不同的人说话，表达的重点完全不一样。我把学生最常用的三个场景拆开，你可以直接按需套用。

1.和外国老师或招生官：说清“你在干嘛”

这一类人最关心的是：你现在在做什么，你的计划是什么，你对未来有没有规划感。

你可以这样开口：

  • I’m preparing for the entrance exam for a master’s program in China, focusing on XX (你的专业).
  • I’m planning to pursue a master’s degree, and in China we need to pass a national entrance exam.

这里有几个小心机：

  • 用 preparing for… 表示正在努力，暗含“我很专注”
  • 加 in China 一句，给对方背景信息，让“考研”不是一个突然出现的词
  • 后面加一句解释，很多国外老师会觉得你有沟通意识

如果对方追问：“What kind of exam is it?” 你可以接着说：

  • It’s a highly competitive national exam for graduate school admission, mainly testing English, mathematics and specialized subjects.

这样一说，对方立刻能对标成他们熟悉的“national standardized test”，不会误解成普通期末考。

2.和国际同学或朋友：说出“生活状态和压力”

同学之间聊天，重点不在制度，而在状态。很多学生告诉我，他们在 2026 年春季的交换项目里，聊到考研时最常被问的是：“So what are you busy with every day?”

你可以这样轻松一点：

  • I’m studying for the graduate school entrance exam. It’s a big thing in China.

  • It’s pretty intense. The acceptance rate is around 20–30% for popular majors, so everyone is under a lot of pressure.

这些数字在 2026 年依然很典型：热门院校、热门专业的录取比例普遍在 5:1 到 3:1 之间，有的更卷一些。具体到你自己，完全可以按真实情况调整：7 小时也可以说，12 小时也可以说，关键是自然。

3.在线简历、自我介绍：把“考研”说得高级一点

很多同学 2026 年开始用英文简历找实习、投海外远程项目，简历里想写“我在考研”，但又不想显得自己啥也没干。这时要记住一个原则：不要只写 I’m preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam，那像在报备请假。

可以换一种方式，把考研变成一个体现自律的经历：

这样说，“考研”就不只是一句“我在复习”，而是一个能加分的经历。

你最容易说错的几种“坑”表达

处理“考研英语怎么说”这个问题，我看到最多的不是不会说，而是“说得有点怪”。我给你把坑挖出来，你绕过去就行。

1.直接说 “I take kaoyan”

这个问题在课堂上出现频率非常高。学生会说：“Teacher, can I say I’m taking kaoyan?”

不建议这么说。原因很简单：kaoyan 在英语里不是一个约定俗成的外来词，和 sushi、kung-fu 不一样。你突然抛出一个 kaoyan，对方只会以为你在说某个品牌名。

如果一定要用这个词，只能在解释型句子里出现：

  • In China, we call the exam “kaoyan”, which literally means the entrance exam for postgraduate studies.

注意，这时“kaoyan”要加引号，提醒对方这是一个中文词。

2.把 “考研”翻成 “test” 或 “quiz”

很多人张口就来：I have a test next year for master’s.

听起来像是你要期末考试了，不是要改变人生轨迹的那种考试。

更自然的替代：

  • exam 比 test 正式得多，用在全国性考试比较合适
  • 如果想显得更专业，可以用 entrance exam 或 admission exam

对比一下感觉：

  • I have a test next year.（像普通的测验）
  • I’m taking the entrance exam for a master’s program next year.（听着就更严肃）

3.误用 “postgraduate test” 当成固定搭配

一些网站上会出现“postgraduate test”这样的搭配，其实英语母语者不太这么说。postgraduate 是形容词，常见搭配是 postgraduate study, postgraduate program。

如果你已经习惯了“postgraduate entrance exam”，那就保留 entrance 这个词，不要“减肥减错地儿”：

  • I’m preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam.（还算可以）
  • I’m preparing for the entrance exam for postgraduate study.（更自然一点）
扯回现实：被考研英语拖后腿怎么办？

说了这么多“考研英语怎么说”，你心里可能还有一个更现实的问题：“我现在考研英语本身就很吃力，怎么还有精力管这些表达？”

我想用老师的身份，给你几个务实的建议，不是鸡汤，是我在 2023–2026 年这几届学生身上反复看到的规律。

一点点“精细化输入”，比瞎刷题有用身边很多学生，2025 年准备考研时，单词书背了三四遍，英语阅读却依旧不提分。原因往往是：只背单词，不背用法。

你可以这样偷懒又有效地练习：

  • 每天选一篇与考研话题相关的英文短文，比如 study abroad, graduate school, academic pressure 这类话题
  • 划出你觉得和“考研”有关的表达，比如：
    • pursue a graduate degree
    • admission criteria
    • competitive programs
  • 把这些短语抄在一个专门的本子或电子文档里，按主题归类，比如“考试”“目标”“压力”“计划”

当你某天要用英语介绍自己在考研时，就会发现，这些表达很自然地蹦出来，不用现编。

输出场景先练3 个固定模板

你并不需要会 100 种说法，只要在三个高频场景下，有可以脱口而出的模板就够了。

可以从这三个开始：

1）自我介绍版

  • I’m preparing for the entrance exam for a master’s degree in XX, and I’m particularly interested in YY.

2）日常聊天版

  • I’m studying for the graduate school entrance exam. It’s quite competitive, so I spend most of my time in the library.

3）面试或正式场合版

  • Currently, my main goal is to pass the national entrance exam for a master’s program, which has significantly improved my self-discipline and time-management skills.

你可以照抄下来，改几个关键词，就成了你的专属版本。

比如把 library 换成 self-study room，把 competitive 换成 demanding，都完全没问题。

小结在心里：你需要的不是“某一个标准答案”
